A table type demagnetizer removes residual magnetism from tools, dies, cutters and hardened components by producing an alternating AC field that a workpiece is passed through. Once a workpiece has been held, machined or ground against a magnet or magnetic chuck, it retains residual magnetism even after that equipment is removed — a problem for high speed steel, bearing steel, nickel-chrome steel, spring steel and die steel components, which hold magnetism stubbornly and are difficult to demagnetize with standard equipment. How It Works
A substance shows magnetic properties when its magnetic domains (very small internal magnets) all face the same direction. The KMD-15C applies a damping alternating field to the workpiece, which scrambles the direction of these domains — once they face in various directions, they cancel each other out and the workpiece loses its magnetic property.
How to Use It
- Switch on
The demagnetizer produces an alternating field across its surface.
- Pass the workpiece over the surface
Move it slowly over the demagnetizing surface in the specified direction — for thicker workpieces, pass both the front and rear side over the unit for effective demagnetization.
- Withdraw at least 20cm
Once the workpiece is moved 20cm or more away from the demagnetizer, demagnetization is complete.
