Product Details
PML Energize-to-Hold Mini Electromagnets give a machine designer exact electronic control over holding force: apply current at the rated voltage and the magnet grips; cut it and the grip releases instantly. Each unit is wound and rated in-house, so the force in the datasheet is the force on your production line.
Where They're Used
- Machine tools
- Door locking / holding
- Actuators
- Feeder mechanisms — short-stroke, high-force operation
- Automation: textile, packaging and office machinery
- Grill locking
- Transformers
- Remote hold / release
Models & Specifications
Energize-to-hold magnets grip while current flows. Ambient operating temperature is 35°C, and all models come with threaded holes in the rear face for mounting.

Reading the Ratings Honestly
- Holding forces are determined at room temperature on a polished steel plate (Q235B); in general the value is exceeded, though a −10% deviation is possible in exceptional cases.
- Real performance depends on installation situation, temperature, counter-anchor and more — treat the values as orientation, and ask our experts to verify your application.
Armature Plates: Getting Full Force From Your Electromagnet
An electromagnet always needs a ferromagnetic surface to clamp onto — generally mild steel or ferromagnetic stainless — and the quality of that surface directly affects performance. Our armature plates are quality ferromagnetic plates, sized to suit both energize-to-hold electromagnets and energize-to-release electro-permanent magnets, for use where no ferromagnetic surface exists or the existing one is not ideal.
They deliver optimum holding force by combining high magnetic permeability, low remanence, a minimised air gap and optimum magnetic pathways. Each plate has a counterbore hole for simple fixing, sized for M3 up to M8 screws depending on plate size.

Frequently Asked Questions
What voltage options are available?
Standard operating voltages are listed per model in the specification table above — and because we wind these in-house, custom voltages and ratings are a conversation, not a problem.
Why would I need an armature plate?
If the surface you're clamping isn't ferromagnetic (or isn't flat and clean), the magnet can't deliver its rated force. An armature plate bolted to the moving part gives the magnet an ideal surface to grip.
What if I need the opposite behaviour — hold without power?
That is our Energize-to-Release Mini Electro-Permanent Magnet: it holds permanently and releases when current is applied. Choose it wherever the hold must survive a power failure.
