Product Details
The PML Energize-to-Release Mini Electro-Permanent Magnet inverts the usual logic: it holds with a permanent magnet — no power, no heat, no running cost — and releases only when a pulse of current is applied. That fail-safe behaviour makes it the right choice wherever a load must stay held even if power is lost.
Where They're Used
- Machine tools
- Door locking / holding
- Actuators
- Feeder mechanisms — short-stroke, high-force operation
- Automation: textile, packaging and office machinery
- Grill locking
- Transformers
- Remote hold / release
Models & Specifications
Energize-to-release magnets are permanently energised; applying current at the rated voltage de-energises them for release. Ambient operating temperature is 35°C, and all models come with a central machined hole in the rear end for mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if power fails while it's holding?
Nothing — the hold is permanent-magnetic and needs no power at all. Current is used only to release. This is precisely why safety-critical holds specify energize-to-release.
How does it differ from the Energize-to-Hold model?
They are mirror images: energize-to-hold grips only while current flows (fails released); energize-to-release grips constantly and needs current to let go (fails held). Choose based on which failure state is safe in your design.
Can I get a custom voltage or size?
Yes — these are wound and rated in-house, so custom specifications are part of normal business. Send us your requirement.
